CABLEready to Make Splash with Flood Doc

August 28
US-based CABLEready is leading its MIPCOM drive with a swathe of one-off documentaries featuring extreme weather, unique creatures, Chinese brats and Japanese cowboys.

The distributor, which is offering the factual specials as a single unit titled The Power Pack, claims all 40 programmes are making their MIPCOM debut.

Among the highlights are MUMBAI MEGA FLOOD (1×60′), which looks at how the world’s sixth largest city was brought to a grinding halt by freak weather; and BRAT CAMP CHINA (1×60′), which follows four students from different backgrounds – products of China’s one-child policy – over a period of three months as they undergo a life-changing experience.

In addition, CHASING EARTHQUAKES (1×60′) embarks on an investigative journey into earthquake prediction; JAPANESE COWBOY (1×60′) follows a wannabe professional rodeo bull rider in America; and HISS OF DEATH (1×60′) looks at the relationship between the serpent and the people of Thailand.

WORLD CYBER GAMES (1×60′) looks at a South Korean man making a living from playing computer games; COCKROACH CONFIDENTIAL (1×60′) looks at what makes this creature so unusual; and BODY SNATCHERS OF BANGKOK (1×60′) delves into the lives of three Thai volunteers who respond to the Thai public’s need for paramedical aid by night.
